Family Session — Lottie, Kayley & Matt
Last winter, I had the pleasure of photographing Lottie, Kayley, and Matt in Chichester. We wanted to create something Christmassy, colourful, and cosy, and the city centre offered the perfect backdrop — festive details, soft winter light, and a warm seasonal atmosphere without feeling staged.
From the very beginning, the session felt natural and relaxed. Kayley and Matt were completely at ease in front of the camera, full of warmth and connection, which set the tone for the entire shoot. Lottie brought endless energy to the day — playful, curious, and constantly on the move — and rather than slowing her down, I followed her lead, allowing her personality to shape the rhythm of the session.
Instead of working from a fixed plan, we let the walk guide us. Small interactions, spontaneous laughter, and quiet moments in between became the focus, creating images that feel genuine and true to their family dynamic. The festive surroundings added a subtle layer of seasonal atmosphere, enhancing the story without overpowering it.
This session reflects my approach to family photography: calm, unforced, and centred on real connection. The aim is always to create an experience that feels enjoyable in the moment and results in images that families can recognise themselves in — natural, honest, and filled with character.
